LookatLao Face Lift
Even though I'm pulling 80 hour work weeks at the day job, I always set aside some time on Saturday nights to work on this here LookatLao thing. Over the past few weeks I have been toiling away into Sunday mornings and what you see here is the result of those efforts. Basically, I wanted more color.
Feel free to poke around as there are some new things to be found and I will continue to update content throughout the next few weeks. Comments and critique are welcome. Cheers!

Well, darlin’, you know I’m a straightforward person so…. I love the color, love the graphics, but I find the navigation much more confusing and the overall visual effect to be cluttered. For me, it’s hard to figure out exactly what’s going on here and what to actually explore. One of the things I see over and over in your designs that I really like is a simplicity that adds to the functionality of the site, while at the same time maintaining a level of visual intrest that is consistent. In this case, the front page seems to be off the charts while the lively banter section feels muted. And for me, the visual overload on the front page makes it difficult to get a real feel for what’s actually there.
Just my two cents from one of your biggest fans….

Deva: Thanks for the feedback. Since I spend my days designing Web sites for marketing departments who tend to drive every project straight to the middle of the road, I feel compelled to do things differently on my own site—even if that means doing things slightly wrong.
And since I own the collected works of Joseph Muller Brockmann, have a decent grasp of concepts like usability, findability, visual hierarchy, and the like, I feel like I’m allowed to brake the rules here a bit. This site really has a single goal: make me happy, and I’m not really concerned about the repercussions of such a goal. And I will say: this current version has me smiling. See others here.
LookatLao is just a big playground for me, and it will always be in flux.
Also, I was drunk when I made it.

Change is good. Being happy is good. Having something to smile about at the end of a 16-hour work-day is very good.

I’m lovin’ the site like you have no idea. Okay, that sounds creepy, but seriously…well done. Color me jealous.

The fact that there are no pictures of me, AGAIN, dropped a few points off the overall score but, all in all, it’s absolutlely fan-freakin-tastic! The colors make me feel as if I’m effortlessly holding my breath at the bottom of a very cool pool, or staring in wonder at the light passing through my favorite marble! Tranquilo, effervescent and gorgeous.

Gravy: If you cycle through the homepage enough times I am certain you will find a picture of yourself in theKiosk. Naturally, in that picture you are wearing no pants.

Ah, as I expected Mr. Vice. I didn’t realize you had become active on the interweb. This is good news. I will send you the highly guarded secret Lao URLs shortly. Until then, may we meet at Don’s. (You bring the codiene.)

ah! an exceptiony fine wheel of codiene i shall bring. how you knew where the “better judgement” began and the “let’s…” ended should remain ensconced in the magma flow of history. i sadly admit your date of birth had skipped my knowledge. that poisin barbed tail which you keep so cleverly cloaked however, i will always be wary of. it’s good to know that you are celebrating in the land of your calling. play hard! play safe! and again, hugs to sa!
