Book Covers
Just finished reading my xmas present to myself: Chip Kidd Book One. Chip's career is full of tasty design goodness and this book documents it all. Plus, you get a nice behind the scenes look at book publishing. Every page is engaging. Here's a great quote:
"One of the great advantages to designing book covers is that you don't ever have to have an idea, much less a thought, ever, in your head. That is the author's job."
If only only graphic design could be this honest every day.
On a related note I've been working on a completely new set of book covers for Hostage Press and I'll post some previews here soon. Mr Young is publishing his latest book shortly and he is reprinting his entire library over the next year or so as well. Lot's of good stuff to come...
I'll leave you with a great interview with Milton Glaser by Chip Kidd himself. One master to another.
