Bangkok Dick
David Young's latest book has hit the shelves in Bangkok. No word yet on when it will be available online, but if you need a copy I might be able to arrange something. I haven't read the book yet, but Dave gave me the full lowdown a while back and the format sounds promising: a wacky sendup of the ubiquitous Bangkok pulp detective novel. Should be hilarious.
This book also marks the beginning of a completely new series of book covers I designed for Hostage Press. You can see the first three designs on the Hostage Press site, two of which are forthcoming, second edition printings of previous titles. I'm really happy with how these came out, and there are several more in the works...
Dave said that at the release party for Bangkok Dick nobody under 30 new that "dick" means private detective.
I feel old.
Jere Smith sez:
Geoff, I liked your your strong pulpish cover for Bangkok Dick. Did you actuall procure the gun and shoot it…photo shoot it, that is? You are quite the book cover man…as I liked the others too.

Geoffrey sez:
Yes, that is my hand in the photo. Tripod and cable release did the trick. The gun is a plastic replica I picked up in Thailand.
Thanks for the comments!

Sheldon sez:
You is old Curtis. When you guys start talking about Nick Cave and the Spelunkers I get lost. I feel like some stole my helmet light.
It will be interesting to see how he’s progressed with this story because he still has the “mai mee lang” style that he’s always had.
