Allez, allez, allez!
I’ve owned many bikes in my day. Some died of old age, one was stolen after owning it for a mere month, and my last bike still hangs from the rafters in my garage gathering rust. That particular bike was a Novara mountain bike that I modified for street use. Back in the day, it was my only mode of transportation, so I wanted something sturdy that I could bang around the streets of Seattle without worring too much about scuffing it up. It was a great bike and it saw a lot of miles.
But I have to say, my favorite part of biking is moving fast—really fast—so it’s a wonder that I never got wise and bought a road bike all those years ago. So, a few weeks ago as I was getting ready to purchase a new laptop, I realized that I didn’t want a new laptop, I want a bike—a really fast bike. (It’s summer for cryin’ out loud, who wants to stay inside all day tapping on a keyboard?)
Say hello to my new best friend: The Giant OCR A1. It’s half carbon-fiber, half aluminum, and it hauls ass! I’ve only put about 25 75 500+ miles on it so far, but oh golly is it fun! And sure, my haunches are sore and I pant like harbor seal, but I’m fully committed to riding a century by this time next year.
Allez, allez, allez. Vit, vit. Allons-y!

Yeah, I did quite a bit of research and a few test rides, and found that Giant really does give you a bit more Bike for your money. I’m a fan.

I purchased a fancy new mountain bike just yesterday (already had a good one), a new Giant commuter a few months back, and a 25-years-old Trek road bike last summer. I love that old Trek, and have upgraded the pedals, brakes and wheels - great bike, and I love the vintage appeal. But I still have an urge to get on one of these light-and-tight new machines such as you are describing. Good choice in where to put your money. Computers bad. Bikes good.

Geoffrey sez:
Baskets are for girls and banana seats are for helper monkeys. Get with it already.

Nice. Giant’s are great rides. I’m looking at getting the TCR Alliance for a rain bike this year.
