New Cheesy Website

Portland’s Foster & Dobbs is a quaint specialty cheese and wine shop run by Luan Schooler and Tim Wilson. Earlier this year they decided they needed a new website to replace the current “placeholder page” they had been using since they opened, so Tim gave me a call. A few months later we now have the brand-spankin’ new site:

www.fosteranddobbs.com

This site is probably one of the most complex jobs I’ve taken on as a solo web designer. Not only did I travel to Portland for an all day photo shot, I also ended up spending quite a bit of time hacking Movable Type into a full CMS. That was little tricky at first, but it turned out great. There’s also a cheese blog, slideshows, google maps, email newsletter templates, and save for a few unencoded ampersands, the whole thing is valid XHTML.

So anyway, check out the site. And if you live in Portland head over to Foster & Dobbs and get some cheese, some Salumi meats, and a bottle of whatever Tim’s pouring! (He knows his stuff!)

Yummy site… after checking it out yesterday, I actually had to go to the fridge for a hunk of New York Black Wax Sharp Cheddar and a slice of salami…

Nicely done! I really like what you did with the stiching along the header and footer - very classy. Also, pretty sweet use of serif and sans-serif fonts.
